Jade Gemstone Cabochon

Spring Green Jade oval cabochon. The rough for this piece comes from a long gone jade mine in Northern California in the area around Fremont.

You may have heard the stories of the oriental ships during the gold rush days. They would bring over supplies that they sold to the booming area & would fill their ships for the return voyage with "Green Rock" for balist.

Well, they weren't just taking ANY green rocks - they were taking JADE.

This jade comes from that same area, an area that has produced some of the finest jade in the US.

This oval has gemmy spots surrounding beautiful white & green inclusions, giving the stone some visual interest and depth.
